Craig Whittaker
Craig Whittaker has performed in the United States and abroad with numerous jazz artists and entertainers, including Tony Bennett, Louie Bellson, Joe Williams, Johnny Mathis, the Temptations and the Four Tops. Dr. Whittaker served as professor of saxophone and coordinator of jazz studies at UNCG for fifteen years, where he founded the Miles Davis Program in Jazz Studies. A noted conductor, Dr. Whittaker served as musical director of the US Air Jazz Orchestra, leading the ensemble in over 100 performances and two recordings. As saxophonist, Dr. Whittaker has made several recordings in both jazz and classical styles and has composed several works for jazz ensemble. The author of numerous articles for professional journals, Dr. Whittaker co-authored a woodwind text widely adopted by university music programs.
