Keith Gates: Music

Douglas T. Decatur was a native of New York and grew up in North Carolina. He studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts. After a tour in Italy, Decatur sang with the International Opera Center of the Zurich Opera. In the United States, he was a soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra, the Richmond Choral Society and the New York Choral Society. He later concentrated on teaching, particularly tutoring entertainers for popular music and musical theater. His students included Delta Burke, Dyan Cannon, Meredith Baxter, Gary Beach and Patrick Cassidy. He passed away on August 28, 1996, in Los Angeles at the age of 48.
