William Rose
The Gates of Righteousness
William Rose is the assistant department head and coordinator of technology for the McNeese Department of Performing Arts, and teaches the low brass studio, music theory, conducts the brass choir and has served as musical director for music theater productions. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his master's degree from Michigan State University. He has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony, Acadiana Symphony, Chorale Acadiene, the Greater Lansing Symphony and the Detroit Chamber Winds and currently serves as principal trombonist with the Lake Charles and the Rapides symphonies.
As a published composer and arranger, Rose's catalog includes works and publications for band, orchestra, jazz ensemble, choir, handbells, mixed chamber ensemble, brass and trombone ensembles. He currently serves as chair of the International Trombone Association Press.
Rose is a founding member of the LATEX Trombone Quartet, which has performed all over the United States, including the International Trombone Festival. Rose has also held the Henry Alexander Endowed Professorship in Music, is a Yamaha Performing Artist and performs on soprano, alto, tenor and bass trombones, euphonium and tuba.
